Friends of Short Hills Park

Friends of Short Hills Park is a community-based organization dedicated to preserving the cultural and natural integrity of Short Hills Provincial Park through liaison with Ontario Parks, volunteer work, public education and fund raising activities.

Park Update

NB - Please stay off the trails while this wet weather continues, especially those on horseback. Your horses tendons and the trails thank you!

Firefly Walk - watch our Facebook page for updates on this event. Traditionally the last week of June. Weather conditions determine the date. Fun for the whole family. Meet at the Pelham Road entrance for 9pm.

Annual BBQ and GM Wednesday, July 10th, 6pm at the DSBN Adventure Campus on Holland Road. Please join us for this annual potluck BBQ and general meeting and learn about Ohnia:kara - An Aspiring Global Geopark. This is a zero waste event, please bring your own plate, cutlery, chair and a food item to share. A draw for a year day pass to Ontario Park will be up for grabs. As a friend of Short Hills Park I understand that;

  • the park is a unique natural environment to be preserved for its own sake, as well as for future generations
  • my responsibility is of a caretaker, to actively seek to promote the ecological health and diversity of the park I pledge to; show respect; tread lightly pack out what is packed in
  • keep wildlife wild, by observing from a safe and non interfering distance observe, not disturb natural features in the park; memories outlast specimens
  • preserve peace in the park; to be considerate to others
  • protect the park from disruptive activities, such as open fires or vandalism
  • become better informed about the needs of Short Hills Park, and share my knowledge with others

Your membership helps keep the park available for you to enjoy as well as for programs, repairs and trail signage. Members enjoy four meetings a year with educational speakers and exclusive events, such as the winter Moonlight Walk.
